Pair found dead in tent at music festival

Two people have died at a music festival in Queensland.

Police were called to Rabbits Eat Lettuce music festival in Elbow Valley near Warwick in the state’s southwest on Monday about 9.30am.

Investigations into the death of the man and woman are continuing, but police are not treating it as suspicious.

The 24-year-old man from Maleny and 22-year-old woman from Nambour were were found inside a tent, police said.

In statement Rabbits Eat Lettuce told Yahoo News Australia it wanted to pass on its “sincerest condolences to the family and friends of those who were found deceased”.

“Our thoughts and concerns are predominately for their wellbeing and privacy during this time. It is truly heartbreaking to lose some beautiful souls that we consider part of our extended family,” the statement reads.

“Rabbits Eat Lettuce place the wellbeing and safety of our patrons as the number one priority and we have highly trained first aid, professional paramedics working 24 hours during throughout the festival & an on call doctor onsite.

It added Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance are on duty throughout its festivals

“We work together with authorities to ensure that the environment we provide is as safe as possible,” the statement reads.

“The relevant bodies will be investigating to determine exactly what happened. It is appropriate that we give them the chance to do their work and respect the deceased family’s right to privacy and avoid any speculation.”

The festival ran from Thursday until the early hours of Monday morning.

It’s described as a “music, arts and camping festival”.
