A self-confessed “country girl” has headed back to work despite winning Tuesday’s entire $20 million Oz Lotto jackpot.
The woman, from Drouin in Victoria’s Gippsland, won the division-one prize, as well as seven division-three prizes, bringing her total to $20,027,765 million, according to The Lott.
She told The Lott her heart was pounding upon hearing the news.
“Oh my goodness! Thank you so so much! What can I say? Jeez!” she said.
The woman said she had been playing the same numbers for about 20 years.
“I marked the numbers with my birthday and things like that. I chose them so long ago now I don’t know why I chose them,” she said.
“I play every week, and lately, I haven’t had much luck. I’m always joking with the guy in the store that I never win anything.
“I guess I never won any smaller prizes because a big one was on its way.”
The woman said she planned on sharing the winnings with her family and will buy a new car. She will head to the pub to celebrate once coronavirus restrictions are lifted at midnight.
The self-confessed “country girl” said she had no plans on retiring.
“I don’t know what I’d do with myself if I retired! I’m a country girl through and through!” she laughed.
“I’ve been working for the past 30 years, and I don’t think I could give it up that easily. I’m at work at the moment. I’ve got things to do!
“I’ll share it with my family. They are about to become a very lucky bunch.”
The woman purchased her ticket from Drouin Lotto & Cards.
Owner Raj Joshi said the winning ticket came “right out of the blue”.
