Owner finds gold nugget lost on WA highway

A $50,000 gold nugget lost by an 83-year-old man and his wife on a West Australian rural highway has been found.

The nugget, which was in a black velvet bag, fell from their car as they drove on Great Northern Highway near Wubin, about 270km northeast of Perth, on Tuesday.

They offered a reward via Dalwallinu Police but found it themselves on Thursday.

"They were overwhelmed with the help that we've done and efforts by the community to try to find it," a police spokesman told AAP.
