Outrage after World Cup reporter groped live on-air by man

A female journalist reporting on the World Cup live from Russia has been groped and kissed during the middle of a live cross.

Julieth Gonzalez Theran was reporting live from Moscow for German news channel Deutsche Welle ahead of the opening of the World Cup when a man can be seen entering her shot.

Footage shows the man move towards Theran without hesitation before placing his hand on her chest and kissing her cheek.

The Colombian reporter was praised for her professionalism, carrying on with her cross without skipping a beat.

But once the cameras were off, Theran took to social media to slam the man’s actions.

“RESPECT! We do not deserve this treatment,” she said after sharing the footage herself.

“We are equally valuable and professional.

“I share the joy of football, but we must identify the limits of affection and harassment.”

The reporter was inundated with support from social media users from around the world, with many saying there was no excuse for the man’s behaviour.

“No woman should ever be treated or accosted like that. Ever. Anywhere,” one man wrote.

“You handled yourself really well but the man is… disrespectful,” another added.

The man in the video has not yet been identified.
