Fair to say Ross Lyon has made his point.
The Fremantle Dockers appear more formidable now than ever before.
That's not to say they're better than ever before, there have been other, albeit rare, higher highs but there is something special about the side that beat North Melbourne yesterday.
If nothing else they seem to be in control and on the same page.
Almost without exception the players know their role, and it's that cohesiveness that now has Lyon's men rolling into the finals.
Ever since Elvis made 317 movies in 6 months patience has been in short supply but yesterday's result underlined some things are worth the wait.
Yet despite the prospect of regular trips to future finals I don't like Fremantle's chances of going beyond the first week this season, particularly if they play anyone but the West Coast Eagles (who I still have pencilled in for 5th).
To make history (a Western Derby final) Fremantle would then need to finish 8th.
Although judging by that out-of-character percentage boosting scoring orgy we saw late yesterday this collection of Dockers may not share such a conservative view.
Exciting times for WA footy!
