Bad news, the guy who invented the TV remote control passed away in the last fortnight.
Eugene Polley was 96.
He deserves our thanks. Approaching the send half of the AFL season no household in the country will be complete without at least one remote.
And while we had fewer games over the weekend there was no shortage of talking points.
West Coast was outstanding, and unlucky at the MCG against Collingwood on Saturday. Those people who say this Eagles team isn't good enough to win a grand final in Melbourne might have to think again!
And Geelong, teased us further in a strange loss to Sydney.
The prime-time team of the last five years simply didn't do enough to destroy the theory of many, that they're past their prime.
And then what about the Crows crash landing at Etihad Stadium against North Melbourne, the Bulldogs capitulation to underdog Brisbane or the Dockers, dogged by injury, all but falling out of the finals race.
No, keep the remote handy there's plenty more to come.
Oh, and by the way may I recommend a show of appreciation for Eugene prior to the first bounce next Friday night.
How about every one of us hit the mute button for one minute. Then roar!
