SINGAPORE — As Singapore politicians take to new social media platforms such as TikTok, it has led to interesting content collaborations with famous influencers.
The latest instance came on Thursday (9 June), when Health Minister Ong Ye Kang put up a TikTok video showing himself - as well as healthcare workers from Singapore General Hospital - performing a "morning exercise" with popular TikTok personality Uncle Raymond.
"Hi guys, today we are with some of our healthcare colleagues to do some morning exercise, and the person who is leading us is the famous Uncle Raymond," Ong said at the start of the 18-second video.
Following that, he and five healthcare staff members joined Uncle Raymond in performing his signature dance moves.
Uncle Raymond, who hails from China, publishes his content under the username "raymondl88" and became a TikTok sensation in Singapore after he posted videos of him performing his dance moves all across the city-state. He has over 48,200 followers, comparable to Ong's 54,400-odd followers in his TikTok account.
He posted a comment to Ong's video, saying, "Thanks for meeting. Be happy. Let’s move. Thanks for Minister Ong."
The video has already garnered more than 486,000 views and 36,200 likes as of Friday morning. Many of the comments speculate that Uncle Raymond could appear in this year's National Day Parade.
