One dead, two injured in tragic Anzac Day boat capsize

A man has died and two other people have been rescued after their boat capsized in Sydney’s south.

Emergency services were called to Bate Bay in Cronulla at 9.40am on Wednesday after reports a boat had overturned.

A man and a woman were rescued from the water, suffering minor injuries, while a man in his 40s was pronounced dead after being treated by paramedics onshore.

The boat has been recovered and will be forensically examined.

A crime scene has now been established and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Following the tragedy, the Marine Area Command has urged all persons travelling on the water to wear life jackets.
