Jess Fox's remarkable year has been capped off in bizarre style after having a horse named in her honour.

Fox produced one of the truly memorable moments of the Tokyo Olympic Games when she won gold at the canoe event, after winning silver in the kayak.

She then followed up her Olympic success with a superb showing during the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships.

Fox missed out on the finals for the kayak and canoe, but won gold in slalom and took out the overall world cup series title.

And in honour of her remarkable 2021 season, the owners of a two-year-old Bay Filly have named their horse after the gold medalist.

And 'Foxy Gold' will be running at Moonee Valley next week.

"Our Shalaa filly with @GriffithsdeKock has finally been named. Not hard to guess which Olympic Gold medalist she was named after," the tweet read.

"Let’s hope she’s just as brilliant next weekend@TheValley."

Trainers Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock joined forces last year to form Griffiths and de Kock Racing.

The trainers have had a number of successful horses, which include Don’ttelltheboss, King Magnus and Hasseltoff.

'Foxy Gold' will race from the stallion Shalaa.

Shalaa has experienced some success in the Prix Morny and Richmond Stakes in 2015.
