'Bad case of indigestion': Amazing photos show snake regurgitating another snake
A snake has been photographed regurgitating another serpent in amazing images shared on Facebook.
Amanda Jongedyk, who works at Parry Creek Farm Tourist Resort and Caravan Park in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, snapped the olive python after he was relocated at the park on Monday.
Alice Skilton, who also works at the park, told Yahoo News Australia the resort “gets a lot of them”.
“The good news is they wipe out a lot of the cane toads,” she said.
“But a lot of them eat our chooks.”
There were concerns the python, which was about five to six metres long, had feasted on a number of the park’s chickens before a quick count found all birds could be accounted for.
No one could figure out what the snake had eaten.
The python was removed safely with a bag but after being released staff realised he was about to cough something up.
“It was a big surprise,” Ms Skilton said.
“He was released and you could hear him starting to cough.”
Much to the shock of those watching, the snake began to vomit up another smaller snake which was dead.
“We’re not sure why he regurgitated the smaller snake,” Ms Skilton said.
“We’ve been told by snake people it might have been too big for him to digest or maybe he suffered stress from the move.
“It was certainly an amazing sight to see.”
Olive pythons have a diet which consists of small birds, mammals and other reptiles.
In 2014, the ABC pictured one devouring a crocodile.
While the python lost his lunch, many were left fascinated by the photos.
“This is crazy!” one woman wrote.
Others called the photos “amazing”, “unreal” and “the most extraordinary series of shots”.
“Bad case of indigestion?” another woman commentated.
In February, a snake and a goanna were filmed fighting in rural WA.
A snake was also filmed earlier this year clinging onto a dead bird from the roof of a home on the NSW Far North Coast.
