The California Highway Patrol is celebrating a "freeway miracle."

On Wednesday, Nov. 20, authorities said a pregnant woman, whom they identified only as Mrs. Accardo, was en route to a hospital on I-15 when officers from San Bernardino's California Highway Patrol office rushed into action to help her through contractions as she went into labor.

The "life-changing" moment took place near Cleghorn Road, while Accardo's sister was driving her to the hospital on the freeway, per a release from authorities shared on social media.

It wasn't long before Officers Zamora, Rafael and Carrillo of the CHP arrived on-site and turned the freeway into what the office is calling an "impromptu delivery room."

After the officers supported her through her contractions, the mother was transported "safely" to the hospital, per the CHP.

"Thanks to their quick actions, both mommy and baby Isabel are safe," the office announced. "Welcome to the world, little one. You’ve already made quite an entrance!"

Alongside the Facebook news release, San Bernardino's California Highway Patrol office also shared images of the newborn. In one, she could be seen sleeping soundly while wearing an orange bonnet, while two other photos showed baby Isabel getting to know her mom and being greeted by one of the officers who helped her get to the hospital safely.

In the post's comment section, locals commended the officers for being "angels" and "heroes," while also wishing the newborn and her mother a "speedy recovery."

A nurse also shared her thoughts under the post: "Such a beautiful family! Glad I could be a part of this beautiful blessing."

Baby Isabel's arrival comes just days after another headline-making birth took place in another unexpected location: the airport.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) told PEOPLE in an email that it responded to a medical call at Miami International Airport around 5:04 p.m. local time on Nov. 12.

“Miami-Dade Aviation personnel, Miami-Dade Police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection assisted with helping the patient prior to our arrival,” MDFR said. “MDFR’s Rescue 40 transported one adult patient and a pediatric patient to a local area hospital.”

Per Fox affiliate WSVN, the woman's water broke and she began giving birth around the airport's Checkpoint 1, in the pre-security area. Audio obtained by the outlet highlighted officers responding to what one said was a "possible miscarriage," before realizing the baby was alive as one officer proclaimed, “We got a boy!”
