Llamas break loose in Arizona, police and local residents give chase

A pair of llamas caused traffic chaos in the US as they led police on a chase near Phoenix, Arizona.

Local television footage showed the llamas, one white and one black, galloping through traffic in while police and residents tried to block their path.

It is not known where the animals escaped from, but they were first spotted by residents of Sun City, a neighbourhood in Phoenix's north-west.

Locals tried to assist police by chasing and grabbing the llamas, but the animals evaded capture for about half an hour.

Eventually both llamas were caught with the help of a lasso.
