Boy, 11, who ran away from carer's facility found dead at train station

An 11-year-old boy who ran away from his carer's facility in Sydney's south has been found dead.

Police mounted a large search involving the dog unit and Polair for the child after he ran off from the carer's facility at the Oatley Parade shops about 7.15pm on Sunday.

The boy, who was non-verbal and suffered from a medical condition, was found dead at Oatley Train Station about 9.30pm.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the child to contact them.
