Diggers furious after Gallipoli Legion Club vandalised right before Anzac Day

Owners of the Gallipoli Legion Club in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton are outraged after their club was vandalised in the lead-up to Anzac Day.

NSW Police are appealing for information after the Beaumont Street venue was damaged sometime between 8pm and 8.30pm on April 18.

A glass window, an external concrete wall and a wall in the club foyer were graffitied.

In a statement police said they would like to speak with three teenagers – two girls and a boy – who might be able to help with inquiries.

CCTV footage was posted to the club's Facebook page of three people allegedly tagging the building's foyer and exterior, along with pictures of graffiti tags that had been sprayed inside the club.

The footage shows a woman walk inside while two others stay outside, one appearing to be on a bicycle.

One of the girls has dark shoulder length hair and is of a slim build. Investigators are working to obtain descriptions of her companions.

"If anyone recognises the disrespectful low life delinquents in the attached video or know who the tag belongs to, please contact the club," Club CEO Michael Cleary wrote on Facebook.

"ANZAC Day is 1 week away and this is how some youths treat the club which was built by the men of ANZAC."

"Members here are livid," he said.

"We try hard to carry on their [ANZAC] legacy, their memory, so to have this happen to their legend, it's very sad."
