Driver in his 60s lucky to be alive after car plunges 27m off harbour-side cliff
A man in his 60s is lucky to be alive after his car plunged off a cliff in Sydney's north, coming to rest only metres from water at Middle Harbour.
The vehicle went off the cliff on Parriwi Road near the Spit Bridge in Mosman at about 7.45am Tuesday morning and landed in shrubs beside a narrow beach.
Firefighters say the white Toyota Landcruiser 4WD dropped 27 metres off the embankment but remarkably the 64-year-old driver only suffered minor facial injuries.
The driver said he has no recollection of the accident and believes he may have blacked out at the wheel.
He was able to escape the car unassisted once it came to a stop.

The driver has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.
The area has been cordoned off and a crane is on its way to rescue the white Toyota Landcruiser, a Fire & Rescue spokesman told AAP.
Police are investigating the possibility the driver suffered a medical condition.
