Man, 50, unconscious after he is attacked by neighbour's pit bull

A Sydney man attempting to break up a fight between his neighbour’s two pit bulls has been rushed to hospital after one of the dogs turned on him.

The 50-year-old Smithfield resident rushed to his neighbour’s aid after hearing the commotion from her yard on Chifley Street shortly before 9am Monday.

Seven News understands when he attempted to intervene, one of the dog’s turned on the man, leaving him unconscious and bleeding heavily from multiple bite marks.

Paramedics treated the man for bite marks on his hand arm and further lacerations to his chin.

He was transported to Liverpool hospital in a stable condition.

One of the dog’s has been seized by council rangers.
