A fire which tore through a home in Sydney's west is being treated as suspicious by police, with the owner remaining unaccounted for.
Firefighters were called to the single-level house on Montrose Street at Quakers Hill on Monday afternoon but were unable to save the house, which has been destroyed by the fire, police said.
Emergency services have been searching for the owner of the house who is yet to be accounted for, a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman told AAP.
Several crews remain on the scene with police and fire investigators.
Video footage on social media showed the house covered in thick smoke as firefighters tried to hose it down.
