200kg tree branch falls on man in NSW

A man is recovering in hospital after a tree branch weighing about 200 kilograms fell on him in the NSW Hunter Valley.

The 54-year-old man was chopping the branch at a Dungog property when it fell on him and pinned him to the ground on Sunday afternoon, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter says.

He was treated for a serious pelvic injury and possible internal injuries and was flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
