Mum driving without a licence suffers serious injuries in crash that killed two teens
A young mother is in a critical condition following a crash that killed two teenagers on The Gipps Way in New South Wales.
The crash happened late on Monday about 30 kilometres south of Condobolin when a truck and a car collided head-on.
The water tanker was driven by a 59-year-old man who was one of two survivors, but 21-year-old Tegan Mills is now fighting for her life in hospital.
Inside the wreck of her car were her two passengers, who died on impact.
Ms Mills was helicoptered to Westmead Hospital, where she underwent lifesaving surgery.
She remains in a coma as family and friends wait anxiously to see if she pulls through.
Her friend Bridget Izzard is showering Ms Mills' youngest baby with love as she hopes for a miracle.
"Devastated," she said.
"I thought the worst - I thought she was gone."
Ms Mills and her two friends come from the small town of Ungarie, which has a population of under 400.
Crash investigators are still trying to work out exactly what happened.
It's believed Ms Mills, who was driving without a licence, might have drifted onto the wrong side of the road before crashing into the truck.
