Man allegedly bashed by group of up to 10 teens at Wollongong music festival
A man who was out celebrating his birthday has told of being bashed so badly he'll need plates in his head.
Dean Allison had just left a weekend music festival with his cousin when they were assaulted.
Four youths have been arrested, but police are still searching for others.
Mr Allison was repeatedly punched and kicked during the assault, leaving him with broken cheekbones and fractured eye sockets.
"I can't blow my nose because it could make my bones go into my eyes," the new father and bashing victim said.
Mr Allison had just left a music festival in Wollongong with his fiancée and a group of mates on Saturday night, where they were celebrating his 28th birthday.
"I just remember getting a few punches to the side of the head, the back of the head," he said.
"They were just coming hard and fast."
He and his cousin were allegedly attacked by a group of up to 10 teenagers as they looked for a taxi.
"There was a bunch of young guys ripping out street signs and vandalising letterboxes and all that, and we said what youse doing, that's not on," Mr Allison said.
"And then next minute we went to walk past them and I felt a couple of hits to the head."
His fiancée Maddy Green said she "couldn't make out it was him, there was blood all over his face, bleeding from his eyes, bleeding from his ears".
Police have charged four teens over the attack, all aged under 18.
All four have been released on bail ahead of their court appearance but police still want to speak to up to six others.
Mr Allison will have surgery on Thursday, but it will be months before he can return to work in the mines, leaving his young family without an income.
