Blindsided Wagga Wagga schoolboy knocked out by cowardly punch

Police are investigating a shocking schoolyard coward punch at a high school in Wagga Wagga.

The victim is only in Year 7 and was being filmed getting knocked off his feet by a 14-year-old boy.

In horrifying vision, the boy is stunned by a punch with such force he can’t stand.

He wobbles uncontrollably then slowly falls face-first to the ground.

The 12-year-old lies unconscious on the pavement with no help in sight – just amateur cameramen.

Boxer and Stop the Coward’s Punch advocate Danny Green said it made him sick "to watch no one doing anything about it".

“He is just very lucky he fell sideways and not on his back or he could be dead,” he said.

"People are dying from these incidents. It needs to stop."

The incident, filmed on Monday, hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Education Department which said, “the school responded immediately and appropriately” to the incident.

“Wagga Wagga High and other NSW public schools do not accept violence, bullying or other forms of inappropriate behaviour,” the statement reads.

“The school is investigating and disciplining those who condoned the irresponsible action by recording and distributing vision of the unacceptable behaviour.”

Seven News understands the 12-year-old is at Wagga Wagga Police Station making a statement.

Police are yet to speak to the tee. No charges have been laid at this stage.

They are also in the process of collecting more video footage of the attack and will question anyone who filmed it.
