New footage shows carnage inside Sydney cruise ship cabin caught in wild weather

Terrifying new footage taken from on board a cruise ship in severe weather has emerged, showing a passenger's items sliding around their cabin.

Those on board the luxury Carnival Spirit cruise ship off the NSW coast said it was thrashed by "100km/h winds and 12-metre waves" on Saturday.

Passengers shared photos of broken plates and vision of the enormous waves crasing against the side of the vessel.

One clip shows a computer, various cords, bags and bottles sliding off a table as the cruise ship was tossed back and forth.

The wild weather that wreaked havoc across NSW and saw a tradesman killed in Sydney's strong winds last week continued to linger off the coast where 2124 people were on board the ship.

Judith Spence shared vision of large waves rag-dolling the ship but the real damage took place inside.

“We had the most horrendous night on the Carnival Spirit last night… broken glass in nearly every cabin,” she wrote.

Despite glassware crashing around her cabin, passenger Roslyn Hay Taylor praised the staff and captain “for his expertise in controlling his vessel and making it safe for all on board.

“We also applauded the calmness and compassion afforded to all passengers by his diligent crew. I was one of the very sick and still would cruise again,” she wrote on Facebook.

No one was injured and all passengers safely returned to Sydney on Monday.
