Irish restaurant owner's brutal take-down of Aussie tourist who left negative TripAdvisor review

An Irish restaurant owner has had a brutal response to a tourist who accused him of "lacking integrity" when he failed to post his wind breaker jacket back to Australia.

The diner posted the review of Eala Bhan in Sligo, Ireland, to Tripadvisor on Friday after visiting with his wife and detailed how he accidentally left his jacket behind before flying back to Sydney.

He said he called the restaurant owner, Anthony Gray, and gave him his credit card details to cover the cost of having the wind breaker posted back to Australia.

But the diner was unsatisfied after the jacket had not arrived within a week and wrote: "Food might be O.K but integrity is seriously lacking."

"When it did not arrive within a week or so, I re-emailed twice with no response," he said.

But Mr Gray was not pleased with the comments and fired back at the unhappy diner in a Tripadviser comment of his own.

"I never usually respond to reviews but have made a exception in your case," he wrote.

"I apologise that I had not immediately sent your belongings back to Australia. I should have done a Joe ninety on it and hot tailed it up to the local post office and made your jacket a priority but unfortunately these things don't always happen the way you may have planed.

"I mean I'm only trying to run 2 restaurants in the middle of summer while my manager whom I'm delighted to say is 6 months pregnant but unfortunately is suffering God bless her wee soul and out of work resting which i insisted on!"

Mr Gray said he had been a "tad busy" with his three children aged under 10 running around the house "like gladiators."

"People make mistakes and forget things just like you did with your possessions," he wrote.

"But to come on TripAdvisor and review me about my lack of postal skills honesty and integrity beggars belief considering I never laid my mince pies eyes on you !

"I mean you are butchering my name insofar as my forgetfulness yet it was your forgetfulness hat has us here!!!! POT KETTLE BLACK ( Google it).

"Finally I just checked the weather forecast in your part of sunny Australia and I reckon you will be fairly safe insofar as your lack of windbreaker."

Mr Gray confirmed he had posted the wind breaker back to Sydney and had not charged the diner for the cost of postage.

He said next time the man and his wife were in Sligo he would take them shopping for a new jacket that is not a "crime against fashion."
