Good Samaritan father-of-seven stabbed to death 'breaking up fight'

A Good Samaritan has been killed after stepping in to help two women who were allegedly being attacked in Western Sydney.

Father-of-seven Kima Sini was stabbed six times when he tried to break up the fight in a street in Whalan.

His grieving family on Sunday described their heroic dad as a good family man with a heart of gold.

“He is the sort of guy he will try and stop whatever he if there's a fight he will jump in,” Mr Sini’s devastated sister-in-law Elena Simeona said on Sunday.

“He'd do anything for his kids…he was just trying to help.”

Mr Sini acted after he heard screaming at a Whalan unit block around 5.30pm on Saturday.

Neighbours say he stepped in and allegedly tried to break up a fight between Billy Krey and his girlfriend and mother.

"A lot of adults, a lot of children… there was people everywhere it was just chaos,” one neighbour told 7 News.

But police allege Mr Krey, 19, turned on the grandfather-of-nine and stabbed him repeatedly.

It's alleged the teenager left the dying grandfather on the front lawn before he was later found at a relative's home at nearby Emerton.

Mr Krey was taken away for questioning before being charged with the 50-year-old’s murder.

Another neighbour said they had just finished moving their belongings in over the weekend, now they’re reconsidering the move entirely.

"Very scared and I don't even want to be here no more,” she told 7 News.

The accused killer appeared in court via video link on Sunday afternoon.

The teenager didn't apply for bail and the matter will return to court in September.

"At this particular time he is doing fine, he is just under watch because it's his first time in custody,” Mr Krey’s lawyer Elie Srour said outside court.

He'll remain locked up in a separate cell.
