As the happy bride and groom celebrated their first moments as husband and wife inside the Great Hall, witnesses say there was some pushing and shoving between two guests.

The 55-year-old man was then allegedly knocked to the ground, and when ambulance officers arrived he was unconscious.

It happened early in the night, just after 7pm.

Many of the guests, including the bride and groom, had no idea that someone had been badly injured.

Some only found out on Sunday through media reports.

Police were quickly on the scene and have arrested a 40-year-old wedding guest.

He was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm and was granted conditional bail.
