Cranbrook student charged over alleged video-tape rape of child

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child over the alleged video-taped rape of a 15-year-old girl.

The allegations came to light after a number of teachers from Cranbrook School in Sydney's east alerted police when material showing the alleged rape was distributed to at least 50 school students.

It is believed the intoxicated 15-year-old victim did not realise she had been assaulted until the images were posted to social media, according to News Corp on Tuesday.

The accused is due to appear in a children's court on April 4.

Another 15-year-old boy had already been charged after police seized his phone.

He pleaded not guilty in court on Monday on other charges.
