Police allege woman found dead in inner Sydney apartment murdered by partner

A man has been charged over the murder of his wife, after she was found dead inside a Sydney apartment.

Police allege the 35-year-old woman suffered multiple stab wounds.

Her body was found in a Potts Point apartment on St Neot Avenue, about 6.20am Thursday.

The woman's father had called authorities from Iran and told them he feared for her wellbeing.

"It is alleged that the son-in-law told him certain things, which brought the concern from the father to speak with police today," Superintendent Michael Fitzgerald said on Thursday.

It's alleged the weapon used to kill the Iranian hairdresser was found at a waste facility in Artarmon.

The couple had reportedly been living in Australia on visas for the past four years.

Police will allege there was a history of domestic violence.

The man has been refused bail and is set to face Central Local Court on Friday charged with murder.
