'Pushbike-hating' truckie drenches pack of cyclists during 'road rage'

A pushbike-hating truckie who showered a pack of riders with water as they rode down the middle of a major Sydney road, has sparked calls for police to investigate.

The truckie is heard on video lamenting that he’s not allowed to run them over, so he found another way to spoilt their ride.

“We hate pushbikes,” the man says.

“So we’re not allowed to run them over… but, hey, we can f**k with them.”

The truck driver’s contempt for cyclists appears to come to a head in Sydney’s airport tunnel.

“Up ahead I see a little bit of water so now’s a good time to start an overtaking manoeuvre, I believe,” the driver says.

He overtakes and drenches the cyclists in a splash of water.

“Oh yeah! Nothing better than saturating a f**king pushbike rider,” he laughs.

“My day is complete.”

But it was no laughing matter for the cyclists involved, according to a rider called Blake.

“If the water had affected us to the point where I crashed or took my friends out, or we fell under a passing truck or car,” he said.

Blake said when he saw the video he realised they had been deliberately targeted.

“It was just so calculated,” he said.

“The premeditation of the act… He identified us… Tracked us for a few seconds.”

The truckie’s behaviour has been reported to police, who now have a copy of the video.

Blake cycles 12 hours a week. He says 95 per cent of drivers are courteous, but he went to police with this video because it was anything but polite.

The driver had posted his video to Facebook asking his friends not to share it.

It has since been taken down.
