Splendour prank busted: 'Broken' ankle lad fesses up to viral video hoax

WARNING: DISTURBING CONTENT

A disturbing viral video that appeared too freaky to be real, turned out it to be just that - a hoax.

The young lad in the clip recorded at last week's Splendour in the Grass music festival is shown getting off the ground and walking away after appearing to have broken his foot.

But the prankster has since fessed up it was his party trick.

In the video which surfaced on social media on Wednesday, the Aussie fraudster acted as if a silly broken ankle wasn't going to ruin his Splendour weekend; he was determined to soldier on and enjoy the event near Byron Bay.

Shocked festival-goers were dumbfounded as they watched the young lad limping away with his foot facing the opposite direction.

Video of the incident was uploaded to the Splendour Facebook page by Sunshine Coast man ‎Izzak Morris.

It begins with the allegedly injured man sitting on the grass, rubbing his foot, which is pointed the wrong way around.

While being egged on by his mate to "get up", another festival-goer, dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit, shouts out to him: "Look at that s***t, you can't walk on that!"

Despite his clearly disfigured limb, his friend says: "Sam, you can walk. Ready? Ready? Get up".

The immobile man, who doesn't appear to be in any pain, reassures the crowd who have gathered to check out the commotion, telling them: "I can walk".

His mate helps him up, before the "injured" festival-goer manages to limp away unaided, without too much trouble or appearing to be in pain.

"Oh my God," yells a man watching in disbelief, while others laugh at the insanity of his feat.

The man dressed as a prisoner races ahead to check on the man, holding his hand over his mouth in horror.

Mr Morris shared the clip on Wednesday with the caption: "She'll be right mate, just walk it off ‪#‎straya‬".

He encouraged social media users to share the video and tag their mates, which has been shared more than 4,600 times and received 15,000 likes.

One Facebook user said: "It hurts to look at it."

"That gave me, the hibee bajabees" [sic] wrote another.

Another Facebook user said: "Toughest c**t in Australia right there."

On Thursday afternoon, the "injured" man in the video, Sam Cooper fessed up to Brisbane radio station Hit 105 that the video was a prank.

What is truthful, though, is the prankster's uncanny ability to bend his limbs in inhumane directions. Bravo!
