Heart-wrenching note from siege victim's daughter

Thousands of tributes have been laid at the makeshift memorial for the victims of the Sydney siege, but one heart-wrenching note stands out from the rest.

Nestled among the bouquets placed in Martin Place is a colourful drawing on a piece of paper, along with a short note.

“I love you mum,” it reads.

It is from Sasha, the young daughter of Katrina Dawson who lost her life in the siege at the Lindt cafe.

Sasha is set to start school next year, with her two siblings also under the age of 10.

Her note joined the thousands of other tributes brought to the site since Tuesday morning.

A new section was even added yesterday to accommodate the swelling sea of flowers filling the air with sweet aroma.

Among those at the memorial yesterday were other members of Katrina Dawson’s family.

They slowly made their way around the tributes to read cards, take photos and take time to hug each other.

Pausing especially after spotting Sasha’s drawing and short but simple note for her mother.
