Teenage boy falls off Sydney cliff

A 16-year-old boy who fell from a cliff at a northern Sydney beach appears to have escaped serious injury.

Paramedics were called to Warriewood Beach at 4.25pm (AEST) on Monday after reports that a teenager had fallen down a cliff.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said the boy fell about 10 metres despite earlier media reports that he fell 40 metres.

There were fears the boy had sustained serious spinal injuries but initial checks by paramedics suggest he may have only fractured his forearms.

The teenager has been winched from the bottom of the cliff and is being flown by helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
