"He taunted me and winked": The X Factor's RedFoo glassed in Sydney

RedFoo has defended his adopted hometown of Sydney as he recounted being attacked by a stranger in an unprovoked attack.

A 21-year-old man has been charged after allegedly glassing The X Factor judge at a Sydney club overnight.

"All of a sudden I was talking to some girls, and bam, something hit me in the head," RedFoo told Sunrise on Thursday morning.

"I just want to identify his face, so if I see him again I can say ‘You’re that kinda dude, who does that sort of stuff’”.

“He looked at me and taunted me and winked his eye, just to say ‘I got you’ or something”.

“This could have happened anywhere in the world – it’s not a reflection of Sydney Australia. This is just a case of an idiot in a club”.

“It’s not my fault everybody in the club is dancing to [my] single,” RedFoo joked, as he also suggested more venues use plastic cups.

The singer had been with friends in a private area of the Golden Sheaf Hotel in Double Bay, when the man approached him and allegedly smashed a glass over his head.

After speaking to witnesses police believe the attack, that happened just before 1am, was unprovoked.

Paramedics treated RedFoo for a one centimetre gash wound, but he wasn't taken to hospital.

He took to Twitter replying to shocked witnesses, saying "jealousy is a hell of a drug!"

This Instagram snap was uploaded at the Golden Sheaf, before RedFoo was attacked.

A 21-year-old man was detained by police and later charged with malicious wounding.

The accused was released on conditional bail and has been ordered to front at Waverley Local Court next month.
