Sydney's mystery Powerball winner has come forward to claim their $31 million prize.

The multi-millionaire won half of the Division One prize pool in the draw on Thursday 2nd May.

The winning entry was purchased bought at the Chifley Arcade Newsagency in Sydney's CBD.

NSW Lotteries spokesperson Belinda McDougall said the winner was not a regular
player.

“When I spoke to the winner on the telephone, they were flabbergasted!” Ms McDougall said.

“While they’ve asked to remain completely anonymous, the winner was happy to dispel the rumour that
they were an Investment Banker.

The lucky entry is one of two winners, each entry to take home $31,027,691.70.

A 15-person syndicate from the Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham was the other winner of the draw.
