A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged over the alleged attempted abduction of an elderly woman in Adelaide’s north eastern suburbs.

Police say the 70-year-old woman was walking her dog along Kennedy St at St Agnes early yesterday morning when she was allegedly confronted by a man standing near a Holden Statesman with the boot open.

As the woman walked past, the man allegedly grabbed her from behind and pulled her towards the car.

Police say a man walking his dog nearby called out to the alleged suspect, who then pushed the victim to the ground and drove off in the car.

The elderly woman struck her head on the ground and received minor injuries requiring treatment at Modbury Hospital.

Police say they have arrested a 27-year-old Elizabeth man and charged him with attempted aggravated abduction, aggravated assault and fail to truthfully answer questions.
