Sally takes on Sydney's weather

This Friday will mark Seven News weather reporter Sarah Cumming's last night on the Seven News desk before she goes on seven months of maternity leave.

She says she'll miss the excitement of live news but is looking forward to the next phase of her life.

Fortunately the job of reporting Sydney's weather is in capable hands. It's been announced that Sally Bowrey will be Sarah Cumming's maternity leave replacement as Sydney's weather reporter.

Sally was a presenter at Foxtel's The Weather Channel for three years until 2007 and most recently has been a reporter and presenter in Perth for Seven News.

She said she's thrilled to be presenting the weather in her home town of Sydney.

"The weather has been a long standing passion of mine, so it's an incredibly exciting opportunity to be able to deliver it every night and be part of the Seven News team in Sydney."

Sarah will be back on deck on March 25, but in the meantime her tip for Sally is to enjoy taking the reins with spring and summer approaching.

"It means she won’t get hassled by people complaining about the cold and rainy wintry weather!"
