NSW police investigated over man's death

A man has died crossing a road in northern NSW an hour after talking to police, sparking a critical incident investigation.

Police were called to a disturbance on a train at Grafton about 9pm on Friday, before taking a man to a nearby rest area.

An hour later the man was struck by a vehicle travelling southbound on the Pacific Highway at Bom Bom and died in hospital.

The incident will be independently investigated and a report prepared for the coroner.
