NSW man stable after gyrocopter crash

A 69-year-old pilot of a gyrocopter that crashed just after take-off at Dubbo airport remains in the local hospital in a stable condition.

The gyrocopter was about seven metres in the air when it fell to the ground on Tuesday afternoon, NSW Ambulance told AAP.

Police have been told that as the gyrocopter tried to take off it experienced difficulties and fell heavily near the runway.

It was thought the man may have suffered spinal injuries but is in a stable condition in the local hosptial.
