A dance teacher has been charged with sexually abusing a student in Sydney's southwest 10 years ago.

In June detectives began investigating reports a young boy had been sexually abused by his dance teacher between 2011 and 2012.

Detectives searched a home at Harrington Park on Wednesday and seized a number of electronic devices.

They arrested a 35-year-old man and charged him with two counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Police will allege in court the dance teacher sexually abused a male student - then aged between nine and 11 - in Sydney's southwest.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Picton Local Court on November 9.
