Boy, 10, dies after getting trapped underneath ATV in rollover

A 10-year-old boy has died after an all-terrain vehicle he was driving, with a 19-year-old man on the back, flipped on the NSW south coast.

Emergency services were called to a property at Meroo Meadow, 15km north of Nowra, after 11am on Monday following reports of a crash.

Police were told the 10-year-old was driving the vehicle when he lost control, it flipped and trapped him underneath.

Witnesses freed him and tried to treat him until paramedics arrived, but he died at the scene.

The 19-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital after being treated for shock.

A crime scene was established and a report will be prepared for the coroner, NSW Police said in a statement on Monday.
