NFL odds: Bettors are overwhelmingly taking the Steelers on 'Monday Night Football'

There isn’t a lot of faith in the New York Giants in the betting market, at least not for Week 1.

The line on the Pittsburgh Steelers-Giants opener has moved a few points since it was released by BetMGM in May. The Steelers have gone from 3.5-point favorites to 6-point favorites. And bettors keep taking the Steelers.

Acccording to BetMGM, almost 90 percent of the money being bet on the first game of the annual Week 1 “Monday Night Football” doubleheader is coming in on the Steelers.

Steelers get a trio of huge bets

The Steelers have taken 76.6 percent of the bets and 89 percent of the money bet on Monday night’s game against the Giants, which is a high percentage for an NFL game.

Big bettors are into the Steelers too. All three five-figure bets on the game as of Monday afternoon were on the Steelers at -6. That includes bets of $33,000, $18,000 and $11,000.

Apparently, nobody is scared off by Ben Roethlisberger’s first game back from elbow surgery. Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending elbow injury in Week 2 last season and had surgery to repair it. All stories during training camp indicated he is having no pain and looks as good as new.

It’s hard to tell for sure if Roethlisberger is 100 percent, considering there were no preseason games, but bettors are buying it.

Titans get a big bet, too

Bettors also might not like the Giants because it’s opening week. New coaches went 1-3 on Sunday. Mike McCarthy of the Dallas Cowboys, Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns and Matt Rhule of the Carolina Panthers lost. Washington Football Team coach Ron Rivera was the lone winner. Joe Judge makes his head-coaching debut on Monday night for the Giants.

The other Monday night game has a more even split, though one big bet came in on the Tennessee Titans. The Denver Broncos, who are 3-point underdogs, are getting 54.3 percent of the bets, but the Titans are getting 58.6 percent of the money, according to BetMGM, thanks in part to a $15,000 bet on the Titans. The line has moved 5 points, from Broncos -2 to +3, with most of the line movement coming after Von Miller’s injury in practice last week.

There were some exciting games and finishes on Sunday. For the only time this season, we get two more games on Monday night.
