A savvy mum has shared the unlikely hack which has rid her home of stubborn stains and transformed her cleaning routine.

The big secret? Cuttlebones — the hard, internal bone found in cuttlefish.

And although the woman admits she ‘doesn’t know the science behind’ the hack, she’s adamant the proof is in the sparkling surfaces it leaves behind.

Before and after shots show the woman’s oven door transformed from crusted with grease to almost transparent, finished off by a shiny gleam.

“This takes minutes to do and I suspect completely environmentally friendly,” she wrote in reference to the door’s cleanse.

Similarly, another snap shows built-up limescale eradicated from her sink while the trick also rids shower doors of often-stubborn water stains.

But the unusual tool left some users scratching their heads as to just how to replicate the head-turning results.

According to the original poster, cuttlefish bones can be found washed up on beaches or purchased for just a few dollars at most pet shops.

When it comes to her unlikely method of success, the woman explained how a little elbow grease goes a long way.

“I cut (the cuttlefish) to reveal the paste like centre, wet it and just rub in circular motion. The cuttlebone just eats the limescale or burnt grease completely away,” she wrote.

Other users couldn’t wait to test out cuttlebones for themselves, largely due to the fact they’re free and natural.

“Brilliant! I’m going to give this a go. Anything that’s environmentally friendly has to be worth a try,” wrote one fellow cleaning enthusiast.

However, this is far from the first time the internet’s been captivated by a fresh way to clean.

Just last month one Aussie mum transformed her dining chairs by using denture cleaner, and weeks earlier another set the web alight when her ‘zero-scrubbing’ solution rid her saucepans of burn stains.
