Ivanka Trump slammed for awkward moment at G20
The daughter of US President Donald Trump is being criticised for an awkward moment at the G20 summit in Japan last week.
A video released by the French government shows Ivanka Trump, British Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Emmanuel Macron and International Monetary Fund director Christine Lagard engaged in conversation.
Ms Trump is seen nodding as Mr Macron speaks before Ms May starts talking about economics.
Ms Trump then starts giving her opinion on the matter and Ms Lagard, seemingly disinterested in what she is saying, swiftly looks away from her.
The video, shared by BBC journalist Parham Ghobadi, has been retweeted more than 20,000 times and viewed more than 15 million with many questioning why Ms Trump was there.
One woman tweeted she brought “nothing to the conversation”.
“She’s embarrassing herself with no knowledge of the subject matter, which is why the video was released,” she tweeted.

Another woman tweeted Ms Lagard is “trying so hard” to ignore Ms Trump.
Others called the president’s daughter a “fish out of water” and “pointless and inappropriate”.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Ms Trump representing the US at the G20 summit “hurt the country’s diplomatic standing”.
“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” she tweeted.
The president is yet to comment on the criticism.
