Newborn baby found in cupboard after police search house

WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT. Police are investigating the death of a newborn after her body was found in a cupboard.

A woman attended Midland Hospital in Perth in the early hours of Wednesday morning and was seen bleeding in the car park.

Hospital staff quickly realised she had recently given birth, but there was no sign of the baby.

Police became involved and ascertained the woman have given birth at a house in Bindoon, approximately an hour’s drive from Midland Hospital.

When officers attended the Bindoon property, they found the baby girl in a cupboard.

Paramedics were called but the baby had already passed away.

At this stage it is unknown if the baby had died before or after she was born.

The homicide squad and forensic officers are investigating but no-one has been charged.

The woman who gave birth to the baby girl remains at Midland Hospital.
