'Never coming home': Father of four, 35, dies suddenly in his sleep

A mum and her four sons are heartbroken after her 35-year-old husband died suddenly in his sleep.

Blake Hann, a former soldier from NSW who served in the 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, went to bed on March 12 next to his wife, Mel, but didn’t wake up the next morning.

The beloved dad leaves behind his four sons — nine-year-old Frankie, seven-year-old Axel, two-year-old Spike and eight-month-old Rocko, family friend Lauren Dubois said in a GoFundMe created for the family.

She described the 35-year-old as "a lad, a larrikin a digger and a mate”.

“His sudden, unexpected and still unexplained death has left his whole family in shock,” Ms Dubois said.

“We are shattered beyond words as we struggle to comprehend how this happened.

“His boys don’t understand why daddy is never coming home.”

Ms Dubois said Mel has moved from the family’s rental home after being “unable to return to the place her husband tragically died” and now faces an “uncertain future”.

Blake’s salary was their sole income.

“She needs a home for the boys. She needs to pay their school fees,” Ms Dubois wrote.

“She needs to be able to provide for them for many years to come, giving them the life she and Blake always planned for.”

Ms Dubois said Blake worked so hard to take care of his family.

“We can’t bring our Blakey Boy back, but we can do everything we can to take care of his family for him. It’s all that mattered to him,” Ms Dubois said on the GoFundMe, which, at the time of writing, had raised more than $100,000.
