'Blood curdling scream': Neighbour heard horrible cries before couple found injured

A neighbour says she had a sleepless night after hearing “blood curdling screams” from a house in Perth’s south.

The Waikiki residence was being combed by WA Police on Tuesday after a man and a woman in their 20s were found with gunshot wounds on Monday about 11.25pm.

Police said the pair are known to each other. Both were hospitalised and remain in a critical condition.

Emma Hull, who lives next door to the pair, told the West Australian she was the one who called police.

She told the paper she heard yelling from the pair who normally keep to themselves.

"It was just a long blood curdling scream that really unsettles you,” Ms Hull said.

Ms Hull said “every noise” she hears now is “unsettling”. She added the man had blood coming from his head as he was loaded into the ambulance.

Police said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and there’s no risk to public safety.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation and police would like anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or reporting online.
