NBA great's story throws Stevie Wonder's blindness into question

Let’s just get this out of the way - Stevie Wonder is blind.

The legendary musician was born prematurely in 1950, and doctors believe he lost his sight after he was given too much oxygen in his incubator, according to CNN.

The conspiracy theory that he can actually see, however, has captivated people for decades.

One such argument sprang to life in 2014 when he caught a falling microphone while on stage performing a rendition of The Beatles' hit Hey Jude.

More rumours that he wasn't actually blind emerged after an infamous Grammys moment when he fumbled with an envelope before jokingly trying to read it.

A TMZ video then emerged of the singer in 2017 claiming that he'd flown and landed an aeroplane before.

Now, NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has poured more fuel on the conspiracy theory fire, so to speak.

‘I went and called every person I knew’

O’Neal shared a hilarious story during NBA presenting duties on TNT about an interaction he had with the legendary musician in an apartment building in Los Angeles.

“We lived in a building on Wilshire [Boulevard],” O’Neal said.

“So you park your car under, the valet is down there. I’m already in the building, I’m coming through the lobby. The [elevator] door opens. It’s Stevie Wonder. He comes in, says, ‘What’s up, Shaq?’ [He] presses the button, gets off on the floor by himself and goes to his room.

“I went and called every person I knew and told the story.”

The hilarious tale had Shaq's colleagues in raptures, once again sparking the barely fathomable possibility that perhaps Stevie Wonder isn't blind after all.
