NBA Game 7 odds: It will be an expensive night for sportsbooks if heavily-bet Celtics win

The Boston Celtics-Toronto Raptors series is even after six games. There have been a couple classic games so far in the series too.

The betting market doesn’t believe the two teams are all that equal, however.

Boston is getting most of the betting action for Friday night’s Game 7, even though the Celtics are 3-point favorites over the defending champion Raptors.

And even worse for the sportsbooks? BetMGM’s biggest liability on Eastern Conference championship futures is Boston too. The house will be rooting hard for the Raptors in Game 7.

Boston getting most of the Game 7 bets

After the Raptors forced Game 7, the money started coming in on the Celtics.

According to BetMGM, as of Friday afternoon, 76.2% of tickets and 78.9% of money bet on Game 7 was on Boston. The biggest bet to come in was at the Mirage. A bettor placed $110,000 on the Celtics -3 to win $100,000. There was also a $40,000 bet at BetMGM on the Celtics moneyline at -135 odds, which would win $29,628.

Bettors are also favoring over the total of 204.5. At BetMGM, 68.7% of tickets have been on the over.

Celtics and over would be a great result for bettors. And it would mean BetMGM has to sweat another series with Boston.

Many bet on Boston to win the East

Boston was up and down during the season, but is still a very popular team with some well-known stars and clear upside. It’s not a huge surprise that BetMGM’s biggest liability on future bets for the Eastern Conference champ is on the Celtics. A whopping 30% of tickets and 33% of money wagered on who will win the East came in on Boston. And the Celtics don’t have to worry about the No. 1 seed Bucks anymore; Milwaukee was eliminated by the Miami Heat.

Game 7 won’t be the only game the books are concerned with on Friday night. The Los Angeles Clippers can eliminate the Denver Nuggets and advance to the Western Conference finals. BetMGM stands to lose six figures if the Clippers win the West.

First things first. Game 7 will be an intense game for all NBA fans, and that extends to sportsbooks hoping the Celtics fall short.
