'Finally': NBA All-Star breaks insane hoodoo against LeBron James

Kemba Walker is one of the NBA’s brightest stars, but heading into Boston’s marquee matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers he was also the owner of one of the league’s most dubious records.

After he was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 2011, Walker joined an Eastern Conference that was ruled by one man - LeBron James.

Even as he blossomed into an All-Star, Walker could simply never beat James - whether he was on the Heat, the Cavaliers, or even during his first season as a Laker.

That all changed when the Celtics hosted LeBron’s Lakers on Tuesday.

Walker’s offseason move to the Celtics made him the star of a much better team, and that team came to play when they tipped against the Western Conference leading Lakers.

Finally, Walker’s 28-game losing streak against James was snapped as the Celtics blew the Lakers out, 139-107.

Walker hit two triples on his way to 20 points, four rebounds and seven assists in the statement victory - and fans were thrilled to see him finally break his curse against James.

The victory meant Walker dodged the all-time record for head to head losses against a player, snapping it shy of Michael Jordan’s record of 30 wins against journeyman point guard Sherman Douglas, who played for five NBA teams in a career spanning from 1989 to 2001.

James put up 15 points with seven boards and 13 assists, but most starters for both teams saw limited playing times as coaches gave their benches more run once the score blew out in the second half.

Boston wing Jaylen Brown provided the highlight of the game, throwing back a vicious slam on James in his return from a two-game injury absence.

Brown (20pts, 4reb, 6ast, 2stl) and Jayson Tatum (27pts, 5 3PM) led the way for the Celtics, who improved to a 28-14 record for the season.
