A woman has been found naked with her legs bound together inside a storm drain in the middle of a car park.
A man found the woman as he was leaving a restaurant in Fort Myers, in the US state of Florida, on Friday about 2.30pm NBC 2 reports.
It was after he heard cries for help from the drain. She had her legs bound with straps.
The fire department was called in to remove the heavy metal grate and rescue the woman.
The woman has not been cooperative with police in how she ended up in the drain, meaning at this stage it is unclear how she came to be there.
Adding to the mystery, police confirmed she is transient and had been staying at a Travelodge but staff do not recognise her.
Police have checked three days worth of CCTV and that has yet to offer any answers either.
The investigation continues.
Another woman found naked in a Florida storm drain
The unusual circumstances are similar to another woman found naked in a storm drain north of Miami, Florida, in March.
A passerby heard the woman – who was unable to carry her own weight – yelling near a busy Delray Beach thoroughfare and called police.
According to police, the woman identified as Lyndsey Kennedy, told officers she went for a swim in a canal near her boyfriend’s home on March 3, the Miami Herald reported.
“While she was swimming, she came across a doorway near a shallow part of the canal. She stated she entered the doorway and noticed a tunnel,” a police incident report says.
The woman reportedly became curious and ventured further down into a labyrinth of tunnels until she became lost.
Later that night, her boyfriend reported her missing.
