N.C. Police Respond to Call About a 9-Foot Snake Blocking a Car: 'It Really Happened'
The massive Burmese python found near the vehicle is now in a foster home, according to Guilford County Animal Services
It was a strange and slithering day on the job for a group of North Carolina police officers.
On Aug. 2, the Greensboro Police Department posted on Facebook that officers had "received a call about a possible snake 'preventing the driver from entering a vehicle.'"
"And yes, it was an eight to 10-foot python. Animal Control has since taken custody of it and cleared the scene," the post added.
The announcement got the attention of the department's Facebook followers, receiving over 1,600 interactions and hundreds of comments.
"I don't remember moving to Australia," shared one commenter.

The Greensboro Police Department also responded to its own post, providing a photo of the apprehended Burmese python for any doubters.
"Yes. It really happened," the agency wrote in the comments.
The police department shared an update shortly after its initial post, providing more details about the snake call.
"Thank you to Guilford County Animal Control for coming and saving the day! A very slippery situation, indeed," the Greensboro Police Department wrote, adding, "The snake was officially nine feet long."

According to local Fox affiliate WGHP, on Aug. 2, Kathy Whitt walked out to her car in the parking lot of an office building and spotted a snake dangling from the vehicle's undercarriage.
Animal control and police officers removed the massive snake by untangling it from the vehicle. Authorities believe the reptile is someone's released or missing pet, as Burmese pythons are not native to North Carolina.
